Brantford, ON — On Saturday, October 26, 2024, Why Not City Missions held its annual Fall Fundraiser Dinner at the Best Western in Brantford, drawing 112 guests in support of their work with at-risk youth in the community. Attendees were moved by powerful stories from staff, volunteers, and young people whose lives have been impacted by Why Not’s programs.
Guest speakers included MP Larry Brock, who commended Why Not City Missions for its proactive support for teens. Drawing on his experience in the justice system, Brock highlighted the importance of early intervention, noting that many young people enter the justice system lacking the kind of support Why Not provides. MPP Will Bouma underscored the vital role local agencies like Why Not play, emphasizing that grassroots organizations often understand community needs best. Mayor Kevin Davis also spoke, sharing his excitement over the Lucy Marco renovation project, which will offer new housing options for community agencies, including Why Not, to support their clients.
The evening featured a youth-led skit, program updates, and heartfelt stories from each program area. A silent auction kept attendees engaged, and the unveiling of Why Not’s new promotional video, aimed at broadening awareness of their mission, added a special highlight to the event.
The Fall Fundraiser Dinner marked another successful year of community impact for Why Not City Missions, whose dedicated staff and board continue to bring hope and resources to Brantford’s youth.
